The Xypex crystalline system for concrete waterproofing
is substantially different from traditional barrier products — like
membranes and cementitious coatings. Check these differences:

Xypex creates a crystalline structure deep within the pores and
capillary tracts of the concrete mass to prevent the penetration of
water and aggressive chemicals. In contrast, barrier-type products
function only at the surface of the concrete.
- Because Xypex
is not dependent on surface adhesion to achieve its
waterproofing effect, it is resistant to extreme hydrostatic pressure.
- It will seal hairline cracks up to 0.4 mm.
- It is not subject to the deterioration problems encountered by membranes
- Xypex is permanent and reactivates whenever water is present

BEIJING OLYMPIC STADIUM 2008 Project Engineer Specifies Xypex to Protect Podium for Beijing Olympics “Bird’s Nest” Stadium In major sports venues around the world, Xypex is scoring big. Olympian big! In 2000,Xypex products played an important part in the waterproofing and protection of the concrete used in the construction of the Olympic Stadium in Sydney. Now, in Beijing, Xypex crystalline technology is again a winning architectural choice where it is being used on the already famous "Bird's Nest" Olympic Stadium. The Bird's Nest, its lacy structure really does look like a nest, features a high degree oftechnology and architectural aesthetics. Waterproofing materials used in this landmark project, site of the opening and closing ceremonies at this year's summer Olympics, were required to meet high environmental standards, have good corrosion resistance, durability, permeability and to be non-toxic. Xypex products and crystalline technology met all of the above pre-requisites and was selected by the project engineer to waterproof and protect the concrete diaphragm walls and slabs of the podium. The Beijing Olympic Stadium, with post-event seating of 80,000, is located adjacent to the Beijing National Aquatics Centre. As well as being the venue for the main Olympic ceremonies, it will also be the site for the Games' important track and field events. Once again, Xypex is proud to be playing a functional part in a great international event

Xypex
products were specified by Bechtel Corp and the Washington Metropolitan
Transit Authority for use at various locations of the metro area subway
system, including sections in central Washington D.C., Bethesda
(Maryland), Chevy Chase (Maryland) and Alexandria (Virginia). Areas of
application included tunnel sections, large shotcrete vaults,
passageways, mechanical rooms, equipment vaults, elevator shafts and
various areas in metro stations. The Xypex system was not only used to
treat large surface areas but was also used extensively for the repair
of severe leakage problems caused by concrete defects and exposure to
strong hydrostatic pressures.

Xypex Admix C-2000 was added to the shotcrete mix and applied
to the severely deteriorated walls of these 15 ft. in diameter culverts
in the Canal’s Gatun Locks. The original specification had called for
the application of Xypex Concentrate followed by shotcrete. However, by
using Xypex Admix, the concrete waterproofing and protection process
was simplified, project labor time reduced, and substantial cost
savings realized

Xypex products were used to seal cracks, joints and water
infiltration in various areas of the new and old subway tunnels and
stations in this system. The success of these repairs was a major
factor in the selection of Xypex by the city of Antwerp for use in
their remedial program.

VANCOUVER, CANADA
Ten large thermal storage tanks, ten elevator pits and four
sump pits were waterproofed with Xypex products at this prominent hotel
and office complex located on Vancouver's harbour waterfront. The
thermal chambers are below sea level and comprise part of the concrete
foundation structure. Total area treated was approximately 7,450 m2
(80,000 sq ft). In addition, Xypex Concentrate and Xypex Patch'n Plug
were used to repair approximately 1,200 metres (4,000 lin ft) of
construction joints.
